hey guys, i spent probably the most enjoyable part of my summer at camp Anokijig. every single person who's ever been there knows why. we all have families at home and friends, and different lives, but at camp, 350 campers and staff members become one tight-knit group, and we all care for each other like siblings. i got the news this morning that the racine YMCA is trying to sell this place so that they can build a new building. go to
[link] and make a donation to the Friends of Anokijig before its too late and next year's thousands of kids can't see and experience this camp like i have. it is by far the best camp i have ever been to. its just a wonderful, friendly place, where you dont have any problems and you can learn different activities, like fishing, archery, canoeing, etc. this place is wonderful but we need all the help we can get to save it. for a total of $8 million, the racine YMCA will turn the camp over to its current director, Jim Scherer, to continue to run as a summer camp. if this does not happen, the 2006 anikijig season will be filled with bulldozers and buildings, and a lot of very sad children. this year was my first year there, and ive already experienced enough there to know that it is a great place that people come back to year after year. even a friend of mine, John Robertson, went there for 10 years, and this year was his 10th and final summer because he left for his training to become one of the few and the proud, which i also plan to do in a few years. so help us save this wonderful place, make a donation, and keep it running!
